Actually you may not think that such a small village is dozing next to the touristic areas from munich over the Achernsee to the Zillertal. The good thing is that from Steinberg you can reach pretty everything the Tyrolean tourism industry has to offer just in a few minutes: well developed ski areas, a proper langlauf univers, modern golf courses, energetic surfing, skyting, rowing, SUP and swimming in cristal clear water of the Achernsee. Of couse shops, restaurants, pubs, thermal springs ect. The Achernsee region ia called "sports and activity parc" for a good reason and is one the most successful regions of tousism in Europe (achensee.com). 

Steinberg itself is the antipode to loud and busy life. Although it is not too far from the beaten track, in this natural mountain village  all the  abudance that you will find in this  touristic area of Tyrol is reduced to the nitty-gritty and somethimes even less.

Out of an almost ascetical state a special charm is found to prevail. Due to small family farms vast spreaded meadows, we find an attractive retro ski-resort with two drag lifts - one of them steep like the Matterhorn, refreshing forest and snowboot hiking trails, lonley mountain bike- and skitours, an idyllic long country trail on which you will hardly find encounters, a magical and natural toboggan run, illuminated in the night. Patient fly-fishing at the Ache, the wild river of Steinberg, a 1000 year old chruch, a surprisingly well restored playground, depending on the season one, two or even three cosy pubs and omnipresent panoramic sights on the surrounding mountain landscape.
